Amrata Pancholi was found murdered on December 17 in her IIM Indore high security premises. Her body had multiple stab wounds and indicated that the assailants killed her brutally, leaving no chance for survival. The ghastly act shocked the entire city with people whispering many stories. A respected professor Amrata was teaching Organizational Behaviour and HRM at the prestigious college. Considering diverse circumstances on the day of the recovery of the dead body of the deceased professor, police had given signals that it was the handiwork of someone known to the professor. Various situations and angles were thoroughly probed by the investigating agencies and they zeroed on four persons-her gardner and driver and two security guards. All the four were nabbed and it was Amrata’s driver Anil Patel who was found giving contradictory statements and the needle of suspicion revolved around him , he was probed further and gradually all the events related to heinous crime unfolded. He told investigating agencies that he wanted to rob Amrata and on the day of crime, he sneaked through rear door of her house which was left open by him intentionally, when he went to her house concerning some repair work of her car. When Amrata returned, Anil stole debt/credit card cleverly from her purse and asked her to reveal password, he threatened her but she couldn’t budge. Anil told he stabbed her repeatedly in order to extract password, inflicting serious wounds, she later on succumbed to injuries. In her untimely death country had lost a promising young professor, educationist and leader. Whatever happened can’t be altered but lets hope perpetrators of the gory crime are handed harshest punishment by the court, which will send a signal to other antisocial elements. |
