On the sidelines of the prestigious Qatar Open one of the best players in the lawn tennis arena Roger Federer has said he loves to be on top and enjoys world number one ATP ranking in the world of lawn tennis.  

Roger who has carved a special place for himself across the world with his superb on field achievements is also known for exemplary demeanour-meeting people and paparazzi with soberness, minus any tantrum or show-off.

Although he was dethroned for a while by Spanish light Rafal Nadal from the top rank but the champion in Roger Federer bounced back scintillatingly to finish the year 2009 with world number one ranking. Rafal is the same man who has in the past created hurdles for the champ in winning eluding grand slam French Open. However Roger silenced his critics and went on to win the French Open in 2009. The year also saw him overtaking yesteryear golden boy Pete Sampras, with 15 Grand Slams in his armoury he is now the player with maximum Grand Slams.                         

"I would like to stay on the top in the world ... because going from number two to number one was hard work and not an easy thing to do especially with Rafa playing so well. That was a major accomplishment for me and I would like to stay there as long as possible and try to finish 2010 as world number one" Federer told media persons prior to his quest for Qatar Open. 
 
Like Sachin Tendulkar, Roger Federer had never let his success go over his head-he is still well mannered and disciplined. Happy New Year Roger-may you establish new records in the new year 2010.
